Hello New Here
« on: February 23, 2010, 02:51:38 PM »
Hi there, i'm Nicky aged 38 and it seems I am menopausal.  I went to my GP last week as I hadn't had a period for around 8 months, though life has been very stressful these last 15 months due to my eldest daughter (aged 9) being diagnosed with Leukaemia and going on to have a Bone Marrow Transplant in May 2009 so I really just thought my periods had stopped due to the stress of everything that was going on.  I saw my GP yesterday for the blood results and all was normal except the marker for being Menopausal, I was so shocked to be honest that I didn't even ask any questions!  I will apparently be referred to a Gynaecologist as I am 'so young' for this to happen (the GP's words)  I am feeling anything but young today!!  Sorry for the essay and Hello.

Hi Nicky

Sorry to hear you have had a horrendous year last year, hope your daughter is ok now?  I do know that for some women (myself included) periods can become erratic and stop during very stressful experiences, the hormones can be all over the place which can mimic symptoms of an early menopause.  Your GP has done the right thing in referring you to a gynaecologist who should be able differentiate whether your body was/is having a stress reaction or is truly menoopausal.  I am 44 and my periods stopped completely when I was 39 so know what a shock the diagnosis has.  Really feel for you as it doesn't seem fair on top of everything you have already been dealing with.

:hi i am new to and at the moment i dont even know if i should be here ! my story i am 29 and havent had a period for the last 11 years ( at the time i thought this was wonderful ) due to being on the depo provera injection , then 8 months ago i saw a diffent nurse and she looked back at my previous blood test (checking hormone levels ) from the previous year and found that when i had it done i should not have been allowed to continue with the injection as my hormone levels were low . So i went for another blood test they were still low so was taken off the depo 7 months ago i had another blood test 3 months ago n my hormone levels still low and no sign of a period since the injection stopped my g.p told me that if they still low in march then i will probably have gone through the menopause . not quite sure how i feel about this yet
