HRT WHAT TO DO?
« on: September 29, 2009, 09:52:30 PM »
Hi everyone

well an update on my latest visit to the hosp it has been confirmed that i am indeed going through early menopause as  well as having dimished ovarian reserve.  docs were really great the day i went in with my list of questions.  they still pushing for me to go on HRT....but i am still a little unsure.  Mainly because all my symptoms ie hot flushes cold sweats seem to have dissapeared.  maybe i am being a little naive but i would like to think that is a good thing?????  my question (which i forgot to ask the doc) is can the sypmtoms go for a bit like me or are they always there unless you are on treatment.  also if anyone has any good info on egg donation it would be really helpful.

anyway thanks  :bighug take care ca.

Hi

Well, yes, symptoms can come and go, as apparently you can dip in and out of menopause for years.  Personally, I had no warning...skipped 3 periods, started to get hot flashes, went to the docs, had a blood test and was told I was post menopausal with an FSH of over 60.  Anyway, less than a week later I ovulated (I can always tell when I do) and the symptoms disappeared.  I had 4 normal periods and no symptoms, then skipped a month, got symptoms again until I ovulated, then was symptomless for several weeks, missed again, got symptoms again, ovulated - symptoms stopped, missed a couple of months, symptoms during that time, then ovulated - symptoms stopped, had a couple of 'normal' months - no symptoms.  Get the picture???????

Everyone else I have spoken to seems to start going through the menopause and suffer from symptoms all the time, until they take HRT.  I thought I was maybe a little freaky.........but I am taking 'dipping in and out of menopause' to mean that symptoms can come and go - along with your periods.

Actually it would be interesting to hear if any other 'naturals' have had similar stories.  I will post and ask.

Just enjoy being symptomless for now  :D
