Hi my name is sue, Iam 41 years old and u will have to bear with me as i dont really know what im doing!!! I m hoping that there are fellows suffers out there that can give me some much needed advice. I had a full hysterectomy 7 weeks ago after suffering from prolonged heavy periods (the longest being 72 days!!!) Three days after surgery my consultant put me on a 25mg patch which i accepted cos i had suffered with hot flushes, since being home and still suffering hot flushes but also fuzzy heads, dry skin and weight gain my doctor changed my patches to 50 mg im still feeling the same!! iam quite concerned about the length of time i will have to be on hrt and im wondering about natural products instead i have heard about a cream called serenity and im wondering if anyone has used it. I WOULD BE GRATEFUL for any advice and please excuse my spelling!! thanks

Hi Cara
After replying to my posts I have just read your post and with regards to diagnosis we have very similar stories, so it's nice to know we are in contact and have someone who knows exactly how it feels. I'm so sorry to hear your ivf didn't work first time and hope it comes around again soon for you, I'm so happy that you are in a loving stable relationship and it sounds as if you have good friends around you. Take care Emma x |

Hi Emma, nice to hear back from you....hopefully u find there right hrt soon, yeah i hadnt been takin any and they pointed out the brittle bone side of it to me, just make sure u get bone density scans done...i had my first one done and not heard anything back so hopefully that means everythin is okay.
I have now been on the oestrogel for a couple of months and its brilliant for me totally helped with all the symptom and feel back to myself...didnt realise how much it had been affecting me until i came back into myself. Fantastic news about the ivf, i have been through it once before unsuccessful unfortunately... and now due to have another cycle in sept as Anna said though try not get to stressed about it all as it is alot to go through, make sure it doesnt take over, Acupuncture is suppose to be great i never tried it last time but def goin to try this time before treatment. Good luck for it though, have the gave u any idea dates for it? Cx |

Great news. I wish you well with the IVF - it is great that you are having 2 cycles funded. It is very easy to let IVF consume you, so try and maintain as much normality as possible during this time and build in a few treats for you and your partner to enjoy - cinema trips, or going out for a nice meal etc. It is quite stressful and your expectations will be running high so this is important to try and keep your stress levels at a minimum which in turn should increase your chances of success.
Keep us posted! ![]() Anna X |

Ah thank you.
I have just received letter this morning to say we are eligible for funding for two treatment units. I'm so excited and so nervous at the same time, can't wait to get started ![]() |

By the way good news, we have decided to try the ivf route as I'm 29 and don't want to leave it too late, however my other half has now decided he REALLY wants a child so I feel a little under pressure as there is no guarantee that we will even qualify for free funding or have a successful attemp at ivf!!
Keep your fingers crossed for us please & I will keep you posted ![]() |

Hi
Thanks for your reply. It's nice to know I'm not on my own, sorry about the delay in replying. I have just had my hrt doubled in strength as the Consultant said it wasn't working as I was still getting all the symptoms! This has lead to terrible stomach cramps and headaches so yet again another trip to the hospital needs to be bookeed, this is the fourth differnet hrt I have tried now!! They have advised i remain on hrt due to the possibility of brittle bones etc so I'm stuck, I'm thinking of researching natural hrt as an option ![]() |
